Interior Demolition of Body Shop

QM Environmental was retained by Roberts Onsite Inc. to conduct demolition activities on the process tooling and conveyor systems at the General Motors Cami Automotive Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, ON. The general scope of the project consisted of the demolition of the Old East West Weld Body Shop Line.

An Integrated Approach

The project scope involved the removal of all process tooling and equipment, conveyors, carriers, process lighting and drop lifters. QM removed all of the overhead support steel and header steel clear of the truss tabs.

Demolition Work

All demolition activities were performed within a live operating facility. Approximately 320,000 square feet of heavy industrial process equipment was demolished and removed over a five-month period. QM removed and recycled approximately 4,500 MT of scrap steel generated from the demolition activities. Phase 1 of the demolition was performed during the summer shutdown. The schedule was met and exceeded by the QM demolition team.

Results

    • Demolition was performed with a focus on strict owner and site specific health and safety requirements throughout the project.
    • QM completed the project ahead of schedule and with no disruption to the operating facilities.
