For the second year in a row, Melissa Clarke – Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety – has been named a Top Woman in Safety by Canadian Occupational Safety.
The award is given to 65 female safety leaders in Canada who demonstrate a commitment to their profession by making meaningful influences on the health and safety sector. Nominators were asked to describe the nominee’s standout professional achievements over the previous year, along with the initiatives, innovations, and contributions to the OHS industry.
“I’m honoured to be recognized as a ‘Tom Woman in Safety’ for a second time, but this is truly a reflection of our entire team,” said Clarke. “We’ll pause to celebrate this achievement on International Women’s Day and look forward to our collaborative plans to continuously get the job done safely, without compromise.”
Melissa continues to take a proactive approach in the growth of QM Environmental’s health and safety policies and procedures. Most recently she has begun to integrate sustainability into our EHS program by leading the launch of our sustainability and ESG journey, while continuing to showcase her expertise in risk assessment, business continuity, emergency response, incident management, disaster recovery, crisis communication, and environmental management system implementation.
Under Melissa’s leadership, employee engagement has expanded with implementation of safety as part of our annual KPIs and the EHS Employee Engagement & Communication Program. This ensures a holistic company strategy as our collective efforts will produce the safest work environments.
QM has seen tangible improvements in safety performance including a reduction in workplace incidents and injuries and improved COR score year over year. Melissa’s strategic initiatives and proactive measures have a measurable impact on the safety and well-being of QM employees.
