An ER Environmental Science Technician within the Emergency Response division is responsible for the following duties:
• Develop, implement, and manage environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Lead and coordinate environmental audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee the development and execution of environmental projects and initiatives, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into business operations and decision-making processes. • Provide guidance and training to employees on environmental best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics and progress towards sustainability goals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and proactive in its environmental efforts.
• Supports the Emergency Response operations
• Required to participate in an on-call schedule to cover 24/7/365
Qualifications:
Education:
• Mandatory qualification(s), any of the below:
• an applied science technologist;
• a professional agrologist;
• a professional engineer/geoscientist; or
• a professional forester.
Occupational Certification:
• NFPA training will be an asset
• Certifications related to Hazardous Materials Response is preferred.
Experience:
• Hazardous Materials Response experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management, etc. asset
• Volunteer Firefighting experience is an asset.
Knowledge:
• Experience in working on environmental reports and analyzing data is required.
• Excellent understanding of Federal and Provincial regulations and other regulatory authorities with respect to operations
• Excellent computer skills, with a focus on Word , PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
